In this directory there are two additional files: XYZplot.gplt and XYZdata. These may be used to display a 3-Dimensional plot of the Lorenz attractor---the so-called butterfly. You will need to have gnuplot installed on your system to make it work, but it's quite nice. The comment lines in XYZplot.gplt explain how to use it. Basically, when you have it set up, give the command gnuplot XYZplot.gplt and a window will pop up on your monitor with a display of thel 3-D plot. You can then use the mouse. Hold down the left button while moving the mouse around, and the plot will rotate before your eyes. If you're on a windows machine, get the windows version of gnuplot and install it; you will also have to edit a line in the "XYZplot.gplt" file to change "X11" to "windows", as described in the comment lines in that file. -- Peter Scott, April 01, 2007
