Fri Dec 9, 2005 This directory contains source code for various programs, including fit, fitline, hoc and grade. These programs are designed to run on UNIX (or linux) machines. The subdirectory mkevals contains source code and documentation, along with an executable for WINDOWS, for version 2.3 of the mkevals program, which can be used to draft narrative evaluations for UCSC courses. Version 2.3 is updated from previous versions, with the main addition being improved documentation. The WINDOWS version is also new, and has not yet received extensive testing. If you want to try out any of the UNIX (or linux) programs, download the compressed tar file onto your machine, and give the commands gunzip filename.tar.gz tar xvf filename.tar This will produce the subdirectory labeled with the name of the program ("filename") and will put everything in that subdirectory. Then cd to that subdirectory, and follow the instructions in the "README" file that appears there. Any questions or comments or bug reports would be much appreciated. Peter Scott drip@ucsc.edu
